Once upon a time in the very earliest days of Royal Threadcount’s existence, my good friend Sean appeared upon my doorstep bearing a gift for me. It was a set of dungeon dice (one of every common shape: 4,6,8,10,%,12,20). I had already been studying Japanese Language for a little bit at this time, and I was also in the same DnD group as Sean. This is the exact set of dice in fact:
I remember rhe moment these were handed to me so clearly. I hadn’t really thought about dice in another language, and I fiercely wished to somehow include these in the experience of the gameplay.
Well, fast forward almost two years, and here we are almost ready to release the game on Kickstarter. I’m busy compiling all of the ideas for “best accessories”, when I suddenly remember these dice (due to looking through my older kit of the game). It took me a bit of research to find the company who sold these in the first place, but sure enough I found it: Q Workshop.
I drafted up an email making a request to purchase a few hundred of their Sakura-Pink d10’s in hope of including them as a reward option for donating toward the Kickstarter. Over the course of a few days, we made our negotiation, and I paid to get x300 of the dice shipped our way from Poland (It’s still incredible to me how we work with people on opposite sides of the Earth to make these games possible!).
The game requires x3 of the d10 dice to be played, so even though x300 seems like a lot, only serving x100 kits feels a lot smaller. Luckily, the turn around time on the order / shipment was actually very swift, so if need be, it be easy to get more if needed. If there are any excess of these dice after the Kickstarter is over, I look forward to bringing them to the RenFaire next year.
